Devils win again!
Current mood: contemplative
Category: Sports

Saturday night the devils took an early lead against the Flyers, but just as quickly lost it again, and before we knew it, we were down 2-1. The devils made a slow and steady comeback to win it 3-2. FUN! Great game, but that's not the most exciting part...

I GOT TO GO ON THE ICE!

I was selected to play in the Lincoln-mercury Score-O contest! Basically you get 2 shots to try to make a goal through this little 1 foot wide hole in the goal from the center line.

The walk from my seat to the ice was interesting... I saw the devils locker room and the glove heating machine! LOL

Then standing waiting for the period to end.. I was 5 feet from the glass.. watching the game... when the devils tied it back up.. it was awesome, the guy behind me Hi fived me, and everyone was screaming and jumping up and down.. crazy!! When the period ended, and I was within inches of the devils, they walked right past me to go to the locker room.. awesome!

4 people were selected to play.. I was 3rd in line. The first guy, hit his first shot RIGHT in! the crowd went CRAZY... next up was a girl whose shots both went wide. My turn...

I didn't notice the crowd, the officials, N.J. Devil, the car we were trying to win, the camara men filming me, or even the scantily clad devils girls, I was focused.. just me, my stick, the puck and the goal... it was a little surreal. Now mind you I never in my life shot a puck on ice. And it has been 12 years since I hit a hockey BALL in gym class.. needless to say my first shot was about 6 feet wide. didn't even hit the goal blocking thing.. .it was way off... and I GOT BOOED! 10,000 people booing me... imagine...

LOL, I shook hit off, learned from my mistake, and lined up my second and final shot, I slowly slid the puck off towards the goal... I could see it was off, but nobody else could... fans started cheering, I heard the anouncer say THIS COULD BE IN... but it was off by about 5 inches to the right... Then everybody was "AWWWWW" from boo's to sympathy that quick..

I was not disappointed, I tried my best, and did OK... if I ever get selected again though.. I'll be ready... hehe.

The walk back was equally exciting I saw the guys sharpening the skates, the zambonis up close and personal, and we all got goody bags! A T-shirt, Hat, Puck, Pennant, Tiny replica Stanly cup, and a insulated mug! So I didn''t walk away empty handed at all.. Of course the guy who got it in got a ~$500 movado watch, and a chance to come back for the last game to try for the SUV.

I will definately put my name in that little box again.. I might just get out there again!

And here are some pictures!

First N.J. Devil was dancing around pre game just feet from us, and he posed for this picture for us!
N.J. Devil

Here is me cheesing it up on the ice!
Me waving from the ice

And my second shot....
Me about to shoot my second shot!

good times...

Current mood: calm

12 Weeks and still going strong except....

Well good news and bad..

Good: I started the excersize ladder. Not the easiest... in fact I think he lied. The book said that anyone who can climb a flight of stairs without getting winded can do rung 1 no problem... BULL SHIT. I can take 2 flights of stairs 2 steps at a time without one huff or puff. But I'll be god damned the run and jump portion is tiring... Run in place for 75 steps... do 7 jumping jacks and run in place for another 30 steps.. I don't get it.. I'm way outa breath... course I've never been a sprinter..
The other excersizes are ok.. crunches, stretching and girl pushups.. (until i get more upper body strength)but what the hell are the leg lifts about...
here: lie face down hands under your thighs.. lift you left leg and head at the same time.. then slowly lower both, now do the same with your right leg and head.. now do that 4 more times.. sheesh.. I don't see what that is really accomplishing.. but I will continue to follow it a bit longer..

Bad news: I binged saturday. 1450 calories OVER what I'm supposed to eat.. what can I say.. I was hungry. well it's not the end of the world.. just a moment of indescression. wasn't like empty calories like ice cream though... I had sandwiches and chicken marsala.. low fat stuff mostly.
Also, I am -1500 calories/day.. so if I ate 1450 over my target.. doesn't that just mean i don't loose weight that day?... nope... more to it than that..

See because my metabolism is slowed.. a sudden increase in calories causes a massive storage effort.. and I gained a few pounds when I stepped on the scale sunday, but between yesterday, and today, I lost that and more. so the schedule was barely altered.. (actually I am ahead of schedule on the big long term loss...) and even though i gained.. What I gained to.. was less than my trend meaning my trend number still dropped sunday... teehee.. life is good.. but I can't do that too often.. but I figure after 12 weeks.. to falter 1 day wasn't so bad...

and the famous chart!

Hacker Diet update week 11
Current mood: apathetic
Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes

Motivation for getting started on the workout/toning plan is hard to find. Mostly because I keep forgetting to print out the instructions for each of the 5 excerises. I will get it started by this weekend though.

I did manage to break the plateau I was at for a week, and I am steady headed down from 300. My Trend weight should break 300 by this weekend. So that's kind of exciting.

The next short term goal is 280, and I see no issues with making that goal at all.

That's all for now.

The Current Chart Updated as always.

Trip to AC
Current mood: busy

Well I am tired.
Last night I went to Atlantic city with my best buddy Roger. We walked, played, walked, ate, walked, drank a little, walked, shopped, walked. Good time indeed.

Ceasar's opened this new shopping mall. Apparently they bought and revamped the old Pier mall, which, if you had every been in, was old and creepy. Good call on that one. It's still a work in progress, but many stores and restaurants are in, and there is a kickass toilet bowl rim shaped, computer controlled fountain at the end. IT has shows every so often, and Roger and I went to see one, it was cool. No Bellagio, but cool. There's a pic below.

There seemed to be a "down the shore theme" in the mall... go figure.. the stores were mostly all in the middle, and on the north side, the south side had floor to ceiling windows, and wooden beach chairs with real sand! It was crazy like little minni beach areas protected from the weather! and they had these projectors that put wave looking reflections on the ceiling, really nice. I have a picture of the one little Oasis area when you first walk in.

Also I got a picture of the statue of Ceasar Augustus, because well, I never had a picture of Ceasar Augustus.

We also found that it is possible to walk from the Sands to Ceasar's without going outside.. Sands though Claridge though Bally's Through Wild Wild West to Ceasar's.. no way to get to trumpt tower without going outside.. :(

In Wild Wild West, they had a new Wheel of furtune machine that needs a picture (see below). But basically the big weel in the middle will spin for each of the 9 players (assuming you get the special) in turn. It's cool to have a community wheel.

Also I was playing this new video poker machine 5-play multi-strike AWESOME! Little convoluted to get going, but after you play a few hands you get the feel of it. Basically you bet 1, 5, 10, 15, or 20 hands(at 1-5 coins@) and you start with 1 hand, you play that hand, whatever you hold, gets held in the first 5 hands, (you see the 20 hands are split into 4 levels each with 1x 2x 4x and 8x mulitpliers, one for each level) those 5 hands in the 1x level get new cards, if any of those win, the winnind hands go to the 2x level. At the 2X level you play a new hand, and if any of those win, those move up, etc, if a hand loses you don't get the chance to play that hand in the next level. OK confused yet? Play it and you'll get it.

Also we ate at the $12 buffet at The sands, fairly tasty, I stuffed my face, and practically rolled out of there for less that 800 Calories! I had salad, salmon, flounder, tortellini, beef au jus. The salmon was particularly tasty even though I generally don't like salmon.

Here's the pics!

THE DEVILS WIN THE HOME OPENER IN THE MOST EXCITING HOCKY GAME I'VE SEEN EVER!!!!!

FUCKIN' A Man!!! I was there to see it all... the terribly play by Brodeur, and Gionta's first hat trick! Fuck it was AWESOME! and I can barely speak at all today because of it.. LOL(or LS... Laughing silently, as little noise comes from my throat today...)

PICTURES AT THE BOTTOM

IT doesn't say it in the article but the tying goal for the devils in the last 37 seconds was actually in dispute among the officials.. I think there would have been a riot if they said it was no good...

Brian Gionta
and John Madden helped Martin Brodeur get over quite possibly the worst 20 minutes of his career with New Jersey. Brodeur atoned for Toronto's five-goal second period by stopping three shots in a shootout and the Devils rallied from a three-goal deficit in the third period to beat the Maple Leafs 7-6 on Thursday night.

"It was a tough game for me but we pulled it out of our hat," Brodeur said. "Give a lot of credit to the guys for bouncing back. When your goalie doesn't make the saves, it's hard to get up and get going. They proved they have a lot of character."

Gionta led the Devils' comeback by scoring three times in the third period to make it 6-6, the tying goal coming with 37 seconds to play. He also scored in the shootout which the Devils won 2-1 in four rounds.

"Obviously we struggled the first two periods." Gionta said after his first career hat trick. "We turned it on in the third and battled back for two points. It's gratifying when you do it."

Madden scored twice in regulation and got the game-winner in the shootout. Sergei Brylin got the other goal for New Jersey.

"We felt they were giving us chances to stay in the game," Madden said. "We missed some glorious opportunities in the second. We just wanted to go out, get the next goal and go from there."

Matt Stajan scored twice and Jeff O'Neill, Chad Kilger, Darcy Tucker and Alexei Ponikarovsky each had one goal for Toronto, which led 6-3 entering the third period.

"It's definitely frustrating," Toronto captain Mats Sundin said. "We played two good periods, and to let them back when you are up 6-3 is a heartbreaker. It feels like a loss even though we got a point."

Stajan gave the Maple Leafs a 1-0 lead in the shootout, then Brodeur stopped Sundin, Tucker and Ponikarovsky.

Gionta scored on the Devils' second shot against Jean-Sebastien Aubin and Madden won it on the fourth with a goal that had to be reviewed, but it was clearly in.

"From the sound I knew it was in," Aubin said.

Gionta, who set a team-record with 48 goals last season and got a $12 million contract as reward, started the comeback with two power-play goals. His first came on a deflection of a shot by Brian Rafalski at 6:29. The second was from in close with 5:41 left in regulation and the third came with Brodeur off for an extra skater. Scott Gomez had assists on the last two.

The Maple Leafs' five-goal second period was started by two goals by Stajan. Kilger, Tucker and Ponikarovsky also scored in the opening 14:48 as New Jersey fans made derisive cheers every time Brodeur touched the puck.

The five goals allowed in the period matched Brodeur's career worst, which came on Nov. 14, 1998 in a third-period onslaught by the Flyers in Philadelphia. It also tied the Devils record for most allowed in a period at home.

Brodeur, who moved into third place past Terry Sawchuk with his 448th win, was a victim of some bad play on his part, a couple of bad bounces and two great shots.

Stajan got Toronto going by banking in a shot off a prone Brodeur from almost behind the goal line at 1:13 for a 2-1 lead.

After Madden tied with his second of the game at 3:30, Stajan needed only 20 seconds to have his slapshot deflect off a stick past Brodeur.

Less than a minute later, Kilger came out from behind the net to tuck the rebound of a shot by Michael Peca under Brodeur for a 4-2 lead. Tucker pushed the lead to 5-3 when his shot from the faceoff circle deflected off Brylin's skate past Brodeur.

Ponikarovsky got the fifth goal with a bomb from between the circles at 14:38.

Now on to the pictures:

Face off late in second period.

Late in the second period... not looking good less than 2 mins and down 3-6

My regular season seats are even closer!!!

Hacker Diet update week 10
Current mood: awake
Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes

Well I was hoping to announce that I had broken 300 lbs, alas mother nature has been toying with me and I've been limboing between 300 and 301 for the past 3 days... I guess it's time for my body to readjust, but by next week, I will totally be under 300. So I'm excited anyway.

Quick recap: 40 pounds in 10 weeks.

That's 4 pounds a week. Which I would worry about except for the fact that the first 8 or 10 pound was probably water weight.

I'm definately on the downward trend holding pretty steady now at between 2.75 and 3 lbs a week. Which is nice, it lets me know that I am definately on the right track, and that I Have a good idea of the calories my body uses.

I have a new concern however that as I loose weight, my body will use less calories than it did (less mass = less work). My weight loss will eventually go from a steady slope to a logarythmic trend. So weight will come off slower and slower as I weigh less. This presents two obvious solutions.. 1) Reduce my calories, as I notice my weight loss is slowing, or 2)Excercise to keep the caloric requirement high.

This is something I had thought about when I first began, and so I did put in a failsafe into my plan. The fitness ladder Ok, so I didn't think of the fitness ladder, John Walker did, BUT I did figure to add it into my daily routine when I hit 300 pounds, this will help me to get into better shape, and help use up some of those extra calories. My original thought was to start on rung 1 on the first Sunday after my 300 Mark, wich will be this upcoming Sunday.

Now, I hear a voice in my head saying... "Hey looser! your trend line is still at 305!" And that is true, my trend weight is still 5 pounds above my goal, but I made the decision to use my first under 300 daily averaged weight as a goal. so even if I bobble back above 300 on saturday, I don't care, I already reached that goal, and it's on to the next.

The trend line is there to reassure me that even on days I gain weight, or if I stay the same for 6 days in a row, that on the whole, I am still loosing weight. That's what the trend line is for. The only goal involving the tend line is my final 200 mark goal... meaning I will probably be down to 195 or so before I celebrate the end to the reduced calorie intake, but I have a plan for that as well... the explanation for which will have to wait. (<--doesn't that last bit seem oddly constructed? Hmm I wonder what the proper grammer is here.) and of course.. we have the lovely graph.. I believe this is the first link to the october graph.. so here it is

ttfn
-al

BTW, I didn't forget about the strip club outing, I just may postpone it a bit, I was planning on a trip to Go-Go-Rama on a saturday, but Delilah's Den is having a Halloween party on the 24th, So I think I hit that one up. It's a Teusday, but any and all are still invited to come on down, just drop me a line and let me know.
