New Motorcycle Jacket
Current mood: amused

Oooh boy I got me a new motorcycle jacket!

Retails for $400 MSRP $500, I got it for $200!!!

Here's a pic:

Damn I look good! LOL

Ok, Why is the shot headless? My mother took the pic while sitting down, and there is a wierd shadow on my face that makes me look about 450 years old. LOL.

I'll get a better shot this weekend, and add it to my slideshow on the front page.

And no, I am not sucking in my gut, or stuffed like a sausage. The jackets fits perfectly! Holy crap... I lost a lot of weight! teehee!

Getting my Geek on: Snow

Getting my Geek on: Snow
Current mood: thoughtful
Category: Art and Photography

It snowed today.
Not a lot of snow, maybe half an inch to an inch. Just enought to cover the grass mostly. You can still see a fair amount of blades.

Here is the Crux of the blog: Snow is a Low Pass Filter.

As I crunched along, I began to think about the tranquility that the snow brings.
why?
why does the snow induce tranquility?
The lack of color? perhaps.
The dampened sounds? perhaps.

I think those things play a part. But what is it that ties it all together?

Softening.

The world has a lot of harshness to it. Hashness is expressed as high frequency.
Not necessarily high frequency sound, but the high frequency of objects and colors too. Leading me to the conclusion that snow is nature's low pass filter.

On a graph, a sharp edge or corner is composed of the highest frequencies. In fact it is said that a square wave, has it's frequency at infinity at the moment it changes from low to high or high to low.
Extrapolating this into the 3d world, all corners and edges are composed of infinately high frequencies. Snow rounds these corners, thereby eliminating the high frequencies, and thus is a low pass filter.

Snow also dampens sound. High frequency noises are easily absorbed by the fluffy substance.

A change from one color to another, also represents a high frequency response, and so the snow, by changing all to white, removes that high frequency.

The general lack of high frequencies, or at least a severely reduced amount of them, as compared to non-snow covered life, induces that scerene feeling.

There you have it.
The tranquility of snow reduced to a mathematical theorem.
In truth, I'd rather just watch it fall while snuggling by a fire, than to work out all the details on a chalkboard.

Geek: off

I am not being facetious at all when I say that there is not ONE thing I didn't like about this entry. I like when you get your geek on.

Also, as I don't feel like leaving another comment on your main page I will say:
1) I love that your heroes are the Devils. GO DEVILS. (that game... was so awesome)
2) I took that inkblot quiz. I am an evil genius... I get that a lot, actually.
3) Motorcycle jacket? MEOW.
4) When I think about you, pedantic is the last word I think of. I was actually thinking about you while I was crocheting today and getting my groove on at the coffee shop while you were chatting up all the knitting ladies... and all I was thinking was... WOW, Allen is so INTERESTING. It's true.

See you Sunday I hope!

Hacker Diet update week 30

Hacker Diet update week 30
Current mood: lethargic
Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes

Whew, lots has happened, since the last update.

It's the first of March, and a good time to review the past six weeks.
Since the last update I've lost 20 pounds. with the last 8 of it coming off over the past weekend when I had food poisoning. Not the Ideal way, but I'll take it. I started eating again yesterday, so that means I'll have to start counting calories again. I'd stopped for like two weeks, as I wasn't eating much anyway, ANY food, tends to make me dizzy at this point, but I'm having at least one complete meal a day, so I'm still getting nutrients. Also, I'm expecting some bounce over the next few days, as my digestive system get's back to processing food again.

I'm down to a size 38 pants. Very excited there. I bought myself a pair of Calvin Klein Jeans in a size 38 late in january, with hope of wearing them on my birthday. I did!

I had also hoped to make it to 241lbs by feb 21. I missed that date, but did make it below 240 by the end of the month, so no skin off my nose.

I stopped excercising valentines day. Not because of that day in particular, but because that's when I started getting dizzy really easily. The doctors have no clue why I have fluid in my inner ear, but they have me on a plethora of drugs to fix it. Talking with friends and smart people, and smart friends, and A little internet research, I think it may have been a food allergy. What did I eat different? Shirataki Noodles and Laughing cow cheese. Not sure if this is really the issue, but I will stay away from both, and hopefully I won't get this again.
In talking to my mother, it turns out that she has an allergy to tofu, WHICH was in the Shirataki noodle I had gotten... I've had tofu before, but not in many years, and allergies to sometimes just spring up. So, better safe than sorry.
Until my head clears up, I'm staying off the excercise, or at the very least will keep it down to a minimum, maybe fall back to rung 4 or something. I don't know yet, what I will do with the excercise.
Set backs suck, but poor health "sucks worser."

Since there was a link to January in my last post, I'll put a link to February's Chart in this one.

Also, have yet to make it to the strip club. Getting vertigo randomly since feb 14, has prevented me from doing much at all. I force myself out and about though... but the strip club may be a bit much for at least the next week or so, depending on how well my new medication "cocktail" works for me. But I'll get there. May even go with a few girls. How wierd would that be? lol
