Pop Quiz...

You know what is better than a $5.99 steak and eggs breakfast?

That's right... A 99ยข steak and egg breakfast!!!

Update...

So apparently the Victorian wouldn't take my coupon for their breakfast "Special" So, after a minute or two of arguing, I left. The cafe in Harrah's also has $5.99 steak and eggs, but I decided to try the buffet instead. It was absolutely huge, and with plenty of choices, including Chilaquiles :) and other wonderful mexican foods, and american foods, an omelet bar, and a jelato stand (not that I'd have jelato for breakfast... but to each their own. They were also making fresh cotton candy. I was tempted to bring some with me, be decided it better to not.

Duke

I will never forget Duke...Duke came into the poker room at the IP the other night looking for some action. Duke was all of 5 feet 6, in his black wingtips. He wore a dark grey suit with a faint pinstripe. The jacket was 6 button double breasted, with 4 button cuffs. He had on a black shirt with a french collar, and possibly cuffs, with a pure white medium width tie, neatly tied with a half windsor. I couldn't see his cufflinks. On his lapel was a fresh pure white carnation. On his left wrist he wore a 5/8 inch wide gold flattened chain bracelet, and his left hand had a huge gold ring with a 45 degree rotated bevel set, square cut, diamond that must have been at least 3 carrots, if it was real. He wore a short brimmed grey fedora, with the back rim turned up, and the front rim turned down. He had a weathered tan face, with a pencil thin seperated mustache, a half inch wide soul patch, and a ponytail about a foot long. He sat down at the table, chewing an invisibly small piece of gum with his mouth open, and kept looking around the room to see what else was going on. He had a funny accent that I couldn't place but seemed almost to have a faint mix of boston, and bronx... But he claimed he grew up in vegas, and I believe it. This guy was a clichéd schyster to end all schysters, and he flaunted it. He was only at the table for a few minutes, then got moved to a 2-4 limit game, but during that time, he chatted with the player next to him, about how he always has to look good as you never know when the right woman will come along. When asked for a players card, he exclaimed, "No, Thank you, I buy my own lunches." This guy was old vegas to a degree what would have paelentologists and social historians salivating. Like I said he was only at the table for a few minutes, but I never took my eyes off him, and will never forget the short time I played poker with Duke.

TI's new show...

Well it was okay... I liked the old British Versus pirates show was better... But this was okay... Plenty of pirotechnics....

The Treasure Island show..

Happens at 1.5 hour intervals, starting at 7PM and has 4 shows/ night. The original show was good I thought, but this new one is called the call of the sirens.... We shall see...

Volcano!!!

Pre eruption, and during... The volcano at the mirage lights off every hour on the hour from 8pm to Midnight.

Is it just me or are the blogs turning into a las vegas guide book... ROFL

Either way, I'm enjoying relaying my experiences

The Emporers buffet...

is closed on sunday.. Who knew? So I'm eating in an italian restaurant in Harrah's next door. The bread was tasty, and the antipasto looks good, I'm sure the main course will be great.
Also, all Harrah's properties restaurants can charge to each others rooms... So if you stay at Paris, and eat at the Flamingo, you can charge it to your room.. Awesome... Third thing, all Harrah's properties serve pepsi! I'm happy :)

The bad beat strikes again...

KQ off... I pop it 3X on the button, player to the left calls, 1 more call. Flop comes 5K5... Checks to me I bet the pot, player to the left raises 2x, and a fold, I look at him... No way he had a 5. I figure AK.. Butwilling to gamble ... I call. Turn: Q He bets I pop it, he's all in. I figure KQ.. I'll split... Call... River blanks he flips Cowboys... There is no way anybody on that table in my poisition coulda put him on KK... Eh oh well... Can't win them all...

The end result is, I've paid for my own first class upgrade home... So I eat 200 dollars.... And maybe a meal or two. Still for 5 days in vegas... That is cheap as free! Maybe I'll hit the tables again later when more fish show up.

XJ 220

A real live '94 XJ220 735 orig miles.... Unsurprisingly NOT for sale...... Just wow.

a surprise at the auto collection

a collection of vintage Juke Boxes.. Most earlier then the '50's

One of my all time favorites

The Mercedes 300 SL 'Gullwing'

More BATs...

I was so wrapped up in seeing the BAT 5 I missed that there was a BAT 7 behind it, and a BAT 9 behind that.... Again.. Not for sale...

Alpha BAT5

HOLY CRAP!
A real 1956 Alpha Romeo BAT 5... Unbelieveable.... Believably, it's one of the few that are NOT for sale...

1947 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith

Came with leather throw pillows for the seats.....

The Imperial Palace Auto Collection...

Is a must see.. It's $9 cash or you can pay with your total rewards quick rewards.... Most of the cars are for sale too! I'd have to say that this candy apple red '66 mustang convertable is about the most mondane of cars in the collection... The posches, RR, Alfas and aston martins are much nicer... But they don't have just foreign cars... If you're motor head, or at least can appreciate a well restored vehicle, I'd definately recommend this place!

Beer Pong

is big in Vegas... Well... Big in the smaller fun casinos.

Nice place for a wedding

Beautiful setting, with a party right next door...

The Habitat 2.. More than birds...

The pool at the flamingo is awesome, with 2 waterslides... Maybe I'll stay here next time... Perhaps do some topless sun bathing :D

Pictures from The Habitat at the flamingo

Guess...

which casino I'm at...

Best Burger I've found on the strip...

The Burger Joint in the back of the flamingo near the habitat area is pretty damned good. Pick your meat, pick your cheese, pick your bun, and unlimited steak fries... A pretty good deal at $13pp (including a soda) Sure, there are cheaper burgers, and there are places I've yet to try, but hell, this place is good!
Maybe if I'm in the mood for a burger at lunch tomorrow, I'll try BLT Burger across from the Wynn in the fashion mall. But I've had a burger three times this week already... Maybe next trip. And BTW, stay away from MargeritaVille for a burger... Not good at all, however, if you're not getting a burger, give it a go, the volcano nachos are awesome and HUGE! But watch out for the margerita's they tend to make them Strong.. One of their souvenier glass jobs ( I got something with blue curacao in it ) was very tasty, but knocked me on my ass quick.

The Mirage

has this beautiful waterfall.. I want one in my backyard!

Best Philly cheessteak

I've had outside of the NY-Philly Metro area, is at Philidelphia steak & hoagie, on lvl3 of the fashion mall, on the strip ( across from the Wynn) Fries could be better...

I wonder...

can I get a nathan's on a stick?.....

Saturday night!

dancing my ass off!

hangovers

suck... But I'm havin' fun tonight!

transport in vegas.

Cabs, Monorail, buses. I Recommend the bus whole heartedly... For $4 you can get a 24 hour pass, get on/off anywhere anytime. Monorail is $5 one way and $35 or so for a 3 day pass. And cabs are pretty expensive too.. A ride from the airport to say the center or the strip will run you $20 plus tip.
When leaving or returning to the airport, I would recommend the shuttles, for $12 they'll pick you up and drop you off at your hotel. If you have 3 or more people, a cab may be nice for a quick trip up or down the strip,, or even from the airport, and somewhat economical. It depend on your group size.
I don't see the point of the monorail... They priced it out of usefulness... Very unfortunate.

Pinball Quickie.

so few blogs today, because I want to dedicate a good blog with lots of pictures to the pinball hall of fame. But the short of it is, I spent 4 hours in there, 1 on black knight 2000 alone... It was the greatest arcade I've ever seen.. Details to follow when I get some internet connectivity on my lappy.

jack in the box

Has a completely automated order and payment system! Frickin' awesome! I'm not sure how special orders are done...

Vons.. How I Miss thee.

and your wonderful sales on classico sauce, and cheap as free turkey steaks....

Update...
I was just reviewing my blog, and noticed the motorist emergency sign says "Caution Road Ahead"... WTF? Did they expect a cliff? Or a Wall? ROFL

To all my friends at work...

Fuck in-n-out burger!

I forgot...

How desolate Tropicana avenue is...

Hooters...

The hooters casino apparently has bikini clad poker dealers... I am so checking that out... Also Tito Ortiz is sign autographs... OOOooOOOoh... Who is Tito Ortiz? No F'n Clue... But what I can gather from, from seeing all these damned Canadiens, he is a big deal in the UFC.

I just saw...

2 brunette parents with 4 ginger kids... How does that happen?

The imperial Palace..

Has balconies on every floor for every room. It also appears to be E shaped. With the top and bottom of the E parallel to the strip, open sides facing south. In both inside U shapes, you have views of the other rooms, and of the flammingo casino, and the Planet Hollywood casino, to the south. In the western part, you have a lovely view of he parking deck below, and in the Eastern part you have a view of the pool... Guess which one I'm in.. :( the outer part of the E faces the strip, Harrah's and to the west(and south), part of the Hard Rock, and vast amounts of desert, mountains, and LV suburbia. Last night was particularly interesting. I was standing on my terrace, looking around at the other balconies, and the parking garage, and I saw a few interesting things:
6 young women in a room, jumping back and forth across the beds,
A black couple that walked onto the balcony, took two pictures, and scurried back in,
A guy pacing back and forth in his room on a cell phone,
people stepping out for a smoke,
and a largish black woman in a bright white bra counting her money.

People watching is so much fun! I wonder how many people saw me watching without a shirt on. :-O

Why do I bother?

Why do I bother with any other game?? I sit down at a poker table with $100 and 3 hours later leave with nearly $400. Now.. Was it all from a hail mary? No. It was consistant good decisions, good betting, and weak opponents. It was ABC poker with some good bluffing thrown in for entertainment... Only 1 time did I suck out, and that was up against two all in's, the first a small amount from my raise, and the second, about half the pot from there, where I took the side pot of 40 but lost the main of 21... And really, the main pot sucked out harder than I did. So, why do I bother with Blackjack, craps, or Three card poker? I seem to only give my money away on them... I guess I'm just paying for entertainment. The upside is, I think I'm back to even again for the trip... Maybe a little in to the black.
Also I've found that the poker in LV can be extremely soft depending on what casino you're in. Well softer than AC anyway... Or maybe I've just gotten the rest I need by laying off of poker for a while.. Who knows for sure.
The fact remains that, in LV I should hit the poker tables more and the blackjack less.... Even if the BJ table is being delt by Elwood Blues or Roy Orbison........

Dam Generators...

Apparently, the 'generator' actually has 3 generators in 1, the first tiny one at the top is used to measure speed, the seconf slightly larger is a permanent magnets type also that creates electricity to power the main generator's electromagnets that produce the real power.... It's a staged system.. That's frickin' cool!!!

hard hats?

seriously? They don't have the REAL hard hats anymore... Ha ha I have two of them at home.. Aren't you jealous...
Well anyway, they give out these skinny plastic 'identifiers' they're pretty goofy... But what the hell... When in Rome....

Dam tour...

$30 beans???

Hoover Bridge?

work on the bridge bypass for the hoover damn... They were about this far 4 years ago... Either they are really slow... Or broke as hell..

Update. I found out later that the original bridge work that I saw in 2004 sank into the swamp fell down! So they built another one...

Steak and eggs...

at the Victorian room in the back of Bill's casino... Is only 5.99 and is surprisingly good! Well seasoned NY strip steak, and cooked perfectly. The hash browns were slightly undercooked, so you might want to ask for them a little extra brown. From like 1am till 11am everyday! 2 thumbs up!

I hate Craps.

and that's all I have to say about that.

The thing about 2:30am...

The thing that sucks about taking a nap from 2:30 to 4pm is that at 2:30 am... you're just awake enough to not want to sleep, but too tired to get into something new... So here I am walking up and down the strip at 2:30... At least I get to laugh at all the drunk people.... And there are a lot of them.

Ah Venice...

who needs a passport?

Another slot machine win!

100 bucks (I put in 40)

Shadow

dancers at Ceaser's Palace... That's pretty hot!

Chocolate clock...

Okay, so it's not made of chocoalte... But it drops 3 chocolates every 15 minutes.... Is 16 feet tall, 25 feet around and weights nearly a ton! 50 moving gears are required to keep all of the 15 clocks in sync. A true work of art, even if it didn't drop chocolate every 15 minutes. But oh boy is it tasty...a cocoa powdered delecate truffle :) see it in Ceaser's Palace, when you get out to vegas.

RAO's

also has giant bruschette... I'm wonder how big the meal will be...

RAO's at Ceaser's Palace

Has giant Cheezits...lol

It's 95 degrees at 10:30... I feel really bad for the kid in the middle of that giant M&M...

Haggling...

true, $25 is outrageous for a cell phone charger, but when you can haggle the middle eastern guy down to $15 cash... The extra few dollars, over what I can get it for on the internet, is worth it, for the entertainment... LOL

Planet Hollywood Casino

Has the awesomest spherical chandeliers... This one has each crystal ball hanging from its own line... Amazing.

The emporor likes his eggs..

powdered... Lol... The food was mostly bland. The biscuits and gravey was actually not half bad... The buiscuits were good, but the gravey needed more sausage... For 12.99 would I go again for breakfast? Only if I had to.
